Golden State Events presents Italian Opera Night featuring an exquisite Italian cuisine experience matched with vino from boutique Lake County Wineries. This first performance in the Culture and Cuisine Series stars Soprano, Liisa Dávila, a rising opera professional, who has performed in Los Angeles, New York, Greece, and locally in California. Ms. Dávila graced the stage as Liu in her debut with West Bay Opera in sold out performances for their production of Turandot. Other operatic roles include Donna Elvira in 2012′s West Bay Opera Production of Don Giovanni, Pamina, (The Magic Flute), the title role of Massenet’s Cendrillon (Cinderella), and Micaela (Carmen). Most recently she sang at the Avery Fisher Hall in New York as the soprano soloist for Schubert’s Mass in G. A winner of multiple national competitions in major cities such as Los Angeles and Washington D.C., Liisa Dávila is an exciting addition to the operatic scene.

Hoberg’s Club Resort’s “Art of Songwriting” Dinner Subscription Series features a songwriter’s original material paired with associated wine, art and a 5-course meal. Each performance will provide a rare opportunity to meet the artist up-close-and-personal, while they discuss their songwriting with their performance. Each course will be matched with original compositions to provide a unique and creative blend of art, music, wine and cuisine. Since forming in 1988, Tempest has delivered a globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy folk rock fusing Irish reels, Scottish ballads, Norwegian influences and other world music elements. The last 23 years have seen the San Francisco Bay Area based act release fifteen critically acclaimed CDs and play more than 2,000 gigs. It’s also enjoyed an evolving line-up that’s enabled its musicianship and creativity to rise with each new member-something highlighted by the group’s current roster.

Hailing from Oslo, Norway, founding member and lead singer/electric mandolinist, Lief Sorbye, is recognized as a driving force in the modern folk-rock movement. He started Tempest after years of touring and recording on the folk circuit. Tempest’s releases are acclaimed worldwide, and the latest studio CD, Another Dawn, finds the band in peak form, showcasing inventive original and traditional material. Regularly featured at prestigious festivals including The Philadelphia Folk Festival, Denmark’s Skagen Festival, Britain’s Cropredy Festival and The Winnipeg Folk Festival in Canada, the band is also a mainstay at countless American Celtic festivals.
