Since the news of the Hoberg’s project broke in the local press, we’ve received numerous letters, emails and comments from well-wishers and prospective customers. Here’s a sampling:
“Congratulations on the purchase of Hoberg’s resort!”
“I have such happy memories of that magical place… For city folks, it was a respite from daily work life, a place to completely unwind, where the wonderful smell of pines permeated everything… Hoberg’s catered to every economic class and all were welcome… there was always a softball game going at Hoberg’s, always people sitting around the pool, a time when people talked to each other…”

“Welcome! Many of us locals are very excited about your arrival!”
“Upon learning of the proposed grand opening of Hoberg’s Club Resort slated for next summer, I immediately felt a certain emotional connection. I may very well not have been alive today writing you this special piece had it not been for Hoberg’s. You see, it was at Hoberg’s that my dear mother and father first gazed into each other’s eyes some 58 years ago. The rest, of course, is history, as from that magical evening under the conifers at the acclaimed outdoor dance palace Hoberg’s was so well known for was born a relationship, and as a result later came four beautiful children…”
“It has been exciting to watch the beginning of what is going to be a spectacular transformation of the resort!”
“It is a wonderful spot in the summer. The pool and baseball field were heaven, walking and lounging on the green lush grass. Happy hour would boom over the loudspeakers, with Ozzie offering the kids free popcorn and sodas and two-for-one drinks in the lower bar. Saturday night had a sing-along to the bouncing ball, a talent show, and amazing professional entertainment with moving spotlights and enthusiastic crowds. The outdoor dance floor had a huge orchestra and dancing the twist under the stars.”
“I would like the chance to see the place where my wife and I had our wedding reception.”
“The BEST memories here! My folks danced the night away for many, many years at Hoberg’s. They will celebrate 50 years in 2012. Will it be ready for a party? I’m hoping!”
“AWESOME, absolutely awesome.”
“My parents started going to Hoberg’s in the 1940s. I spent every summer of my life there. I was 13 when it closed. I still remember my mother leaving the resort in tears after our last visit in 1971, when we knew the resort was closing. I wish my dad were alive to see this re-opening. It would have meant the world to him. I can’t wait to bring my kids to Hoberg’s!”
“… Welcome to our lovely hidden away perfect county. The water is clean, the air is the best, the property you have assumed is incredible and I wish you well in your endeavors.”
“I’m really interested in the rebirth of such a historic site… (it is) exciting to me.”
“I spent my honeymoon at Hoberg ‘s in 1957 and also we took our little girls there again in 1963. I have loved it ever since, even though I haven’t been able to get to it because I heard it closed and I was heartbroken – it was such a wonderful place…”
